Sometimes in addition to required data the car rental companies also ask for other documents from the renter, which in some cases may be illegal the occasion of a contract. Although each company is different, in general, the following documents will be needed.
For Hungarian private person:
- Valid ID card and/or passport, if we would like to cross the border
- At least 1 year old, valid driver’s license. International driving license is required if the driving license has been issued in non-Latin script.
- Address card prooving the permanent address
- Occasionally landline phone number
- Up to 2 month old utility bill (excluding mobile phones)
- Social insurance card
- Tax Card
- Occasionally proof of national minimum age (21 years)
- Embossed bank card to guarantee the deposit (Amex, Visa, Mastercard)
- Keep it in mind that the vehicle may be driven only by people who are included in the car rental contract.
For foreign private person:
- Passpot
- Valid driving license
- Minimum age of 21
- Embossed bank card
- Proof of Address in Hungary
- Proof of Permanent address
Business associations and organizations:
- Articles of Association or articles of incorporation
- Certificate of incorporation
- Specimen signatures
- Stamp
- Embossed bank card to guarantee the deposit, if the renter would like to take the car outside the car rental company’s headquarters or premises
- The company cannot be under liquidation, winding up or bankruptcy
- From the person who take the car:
- Valid passport or identity card
- At least 1 year old, valid driver’s license
- Address card prooving the permanent address
- Attorney to signing privileges
Foreign companies or other organizations:
If the company hasn’t got a Hungarian headquarters or branch. It’s necessary to involve Hungarian or foreign private person, or inland companies, which comply with the relevant criteria.
